Timeline

My business personality showed itself from a very young age. While I didn't realize I wanted to go into marketing at the age of 3, I began doing business and economic related activities starting in elementary school.

First, I had a lemonade stand. And while almost every child on the planet has had a lemonade stand, I took it to the next level. My sister and I canvased the neighborhood a few days prior to the stand, passing out fliers and letting any walking passersby know of the new lemonade stand we'd be opening in a few days. As ridiculous as we must have looked, it worked. The day of our lemonade stand, we had an enormous turn out, and even ended up recruiting our neighbor\employees to help with the increasing number of people. This also lead us to have a discussion about equal payouts for the amount of work done (Images 1 and 2).

Moving onto the remainder of my prepubescent economic endeavors, I branched out to a multitude of different money making opportunities: from charging $1 for sparkly pen drawings, to selling strawberry milk at lunch for an alternative to the boring regular milk. But my most profitable business was my homemade bracelets. During the summer before fourth grade, I learned how to make woven bracelets. That in itself was not the most exciting thing, but I also learned how to make them with any colors, patterns, and textures that I could imagine. I wore one to the first day of school, and my sales took off, extending to a waiting list of 10 people at a time (not a lot in actuality but everyone in the world to an eight year old). I began selling my bracelets at lunch, alongside with my homemade soap that had money and toys inside of it. It was an instant hit, and my business continued until the end of the year (Image 3).

Fast forwarding to my high school years, I continued to branch out into business related fields whenever I could. While I took a break from making and selling products, I started to delve into the academic side of marketing. I joined DECA my junior year, and went to States after winning two awards in Districts and ended up winning another award for my test score (Image 4). The summer before my senior year, I traveled to Los Angeles to participate in a 6-week long internship for Excolere Equity Partners, in which I had input on their marketing and presentation dealings whenever the company had meetings with potential clients. Finally, moving into my senior year, I am now a co-owner of a house and am working side-by-side with my father to remodel it. Together we are updating the property, and we hope to start renting it out during my first year of college (Images 4-8).

In conclusion, I have been conducting business and economic dealings ever since I was young, and have been continuously learning from each experience. I would be ecstatic to continue my growth in one of the best business schools in the county, and make my lemonade stand self immensely proud.
